Ee Chinese Cuisine, Eastin Hotel Petaling Jaya: Over the Moon with Moon Cakes and A Mid-Autumn Feast!

Homemade Decadent Mid-Autumn Moon Cakes & Feast

Back again this year, Eastin Hotel Petaling Jaya is proud to showcase their homemade decadent moon cakes at Ee Chinese Cuisine. Eastin Hotel has not missed celebrating the Mid-Autumn festival ever since the Ee Chinese Cuisine opened its doors to valued guests. This year, Ee Chinese Cuisine has prepared an assortment of delectable Baked and Snow Skin Moon Cakes to ring in the festive season with delectable flavors.

We checked into Ee Chinese Cuisine for a preview of the moon cakes by Eastin Hotel and also a feast of dishes available during the Mid-Autumn festive at Ee Chinese Cuisine. For those who are not aware, the restaurant is a pork free restaurant now. One can savor many delicious Cantonese dishes anddDim sum at the Ee Chinese Cuisine.

Here’s a summary of Ee Chinese Cuisine’s moon cake series for this year. There are regular sized Halal Superior Mooncakes, Baked Mini Mooncakes and Snow Skin Mini Mooncakes on the menu. The moon cakes are presented in a custom designed gift box and top-carrier bags. There are more than 15 flavours for guests to choose from.

The Halal Superior Moon Cakes consisted of Pearl of Harmony, Pure Lotus Paste, Red Bean Paste, Assorted Fruits & Nuts, Low Sugar White Lotus Paste with Single Yolk and Pure Lotus Paste with Double Yolk.

The Baked Mini Moon Cakes has White Lotus Paste with Single Yolk, Pandan Paste with Single Yolk, Pu Er Tea Lotus Paste and Red Bean with Single Yolk.

The Snow Skin Mini Moon Cakes showcased Crystal Corn Paste with Custard, Crystal Green Tea Paste with Single Yolk, Crystal Durian Paste and Crystal Blueberry Paste.

My favorite on the list has to be the Pearl of Harmony, Assorted Fruits & Nuts, Crystal Corn Paste with Custard and Crystal Blueberry Paste.

Besides these luscious moon cakes, guests can also enjoy special dishes in festive of Mid-Autumn season.  Ee Chinese Cuisine is famous for their soups and BBQ dishes. The soups here are heavenly flavored with lots of glorious essences of sea and land. The BBQ dishes show case the skill of the master chefs here with artistically perfect roast of meat and seafood.

Our dinner kicked off with Deep-Fried Prawn Dumpling in Superior Broth & Gratinated Canadian Oyster with Lemon Cheese Sauce. Two of the most favorable sea treasures showcased in different preparation of East meets West. We raved and raved at the divine oyster beautifully smothered in melted cheese sauce with hints of citrus. It just can’t get any better than this oyster… we wanted a few dozens of this! The prawn dumpling had a hidden surprise. Thick savory broth exploded in the mouth as soon as one bites into the dumpling. What a juicy surprise…

The chefs at Ee Chinese Cuisine takes days to make their soups and it certainly shows in the luscious creamy broth boiled from cod fish bones and chicken bones. Fish Broth with Mushrooms, Lotus Root and Fish Mousse in Mini Clay Pot is so luscious indeed that the broth alone is worth the savor without any further ingredients. The lotus root is so pretty here and is a clever texture in the dish to compliment the soft pieces of fish mousse. Yum!!

The Baked Stuffed Chicken Wing with Savory Sauce came solo with a pretty pickled papaya flower. The gorgeously roasted wing with its golden amber lacquer is stuffed with minced chicken filling. I enjoyed the caramelized sweet and savory flavours of the wings and sauce. I wish it would come in pairs for double enjoyment…

Something is really changing the food world and its charcoal. Black colored food has taken the gastronomy world by storm. Following pursuit of this, we were served Charcoal Beancurd with Crispy Enoki Mushrooms. The presentation is funnily odd as it has a lovely long white asparagus balanced on the black charcoal beancurd. Nevertheless, we enjoyed this simple dish showcasing beancurd served with crunchy white asparagus and crispy fried enoki mushroom in light gravy.

My ultimate vote of the night goes to the sexy Baked Cod Fish with Garlic Fried Rice. Look at the glistening lacquered cod pieces stacked along a side of golden garlic fried rice. It is almost to pretty to be eaten with the additional rendering of sauce on the side. The cod is superb with its creamy sweet flavours. The fluffy garlic rice worked well with the cod while a side crisp lettuce offered some crunch texture to the fish and rice.

Dinner ended with the classic Eight Treasure Sweeten Broth with Ee Chinese Cuisine Moon Cakes.
