T@ste6, Swiss-Garden Hotel & Residences Kuala Lumpur: A Brand New Dining Experience!

Late last month, I had the honors of attending the launching of the new T@ste6 at Swiss-Garden Hotel & Residences Kuala Lumpur! Located at Level 6 of the new Swiss-Garden Residences, the classy restaurant was as gorgeous as my first sneak preview of the place.

Upon arriving, we were quickly handed SKYY Lychee Martinis and Canapes while we check out the lovely city’s view surrounding the restaurant. The whole ambience was so vogue with its stylish glass, metal and wooden décor with splashes of red!

I love the open kitchen concept as it keeps me busy while I wait for my food! There is a decent range of wines available encased in glass to separate the private dining room with the main restaurant.

The launch was officiated with a speech from Swiss-Garden International Group General Manager, Mr. Rayan Komatt.

There was also a dance performance to get the crowd going…

So what kind of food do T@ste6 offers?

The restaurant offered buffet dishes that night and I was surprised by their offerings. Buffet has a side effect where food tends to taste mediocre when cooked in batches and resting in warmers. However, the buffet that night was simply amazing. Obviously quality was a high focus and every dish had great flavors, textures and nuances!

Simple Caesar Salad and Pumpkin with Parmesan Cheese Soup was a great light starters in my books. One can savor great ingredients in its simplicity!

Notable favorites of mine that night was the Roasted Beef CubeRoll, Seabass with Chive Sauce, Salmon with Bisque Sauce and Stewed Lamb with Potatoes. Both meats were so tender and filled with beautiful flavors while the fish was executed with perfection! Even the side dishes were well seasoned and not mushy despite sitting in the warmers.

Desserts were limited but I just adored the Mini Lemon Tarts as it was just so refreshing.

The restaurant showed a series of French inspired desserts such Chilled Chocolate Mousse, Mille Fueille with Pastry Cream and Bread and Butter Pudding.  We ended our dining experience with fresh fruits and more cocktails of course!!

Temptations from my plates that night… J

Chef Amir and his culinary team definitely put in great efforts that night. The buffet was prepared with great thoughts and effort and these showed in the dishes we sampled that night.

T@ste6 has started off with a winning combination of stylish interiors and great food. Menu offers gorgeous soups, salads, pizzas, pies, pastas and rissottos with snacks from cuisines worldwide. Mains like British Fish & Chips to Moroccan Lamb Rack to American burgers and sandwiches are featured while desserts features Italian Frangelico Tiramisu, Calvados Affrogato and more.

Definitely a culinary destination to look out for…

Tai Zi Heen, Prince Hotel & Residence Kuala Lumpur: Celebrate Mid-Autumn Festival with Ten Delectable Mooncakes!

Let me share with you my mooncake indulgence…

This Mid-Autumn Festival, Prince Hotel & Residence Kuala Lumpur is proud to present Tai Zi Heen’s signature mooncakes specially prepared by the culinary team.

With ten great choices from Baked range to Mini Snow Skin range, there is something for everyone from the young to the elder. To indulge or not?

Tai Zi Heen’s baked mooncakes series showed consistent thin skin mooncakes with a beautiful golden hue wrapped around luscious traditional and modern filings. These five flavors have a nice balance of sweetness and each bite was tender and delicious.

Traditionalist can vouched for Hong Kong White Lotus Paste with Single Egg Yolk (RM23+ per piece / RM92+ per box). Simplicity at its best, I could taste quality lotus paste in these delectable treats!

Pandan with Single Egg Yolk and Melon Seeds (RM23+ per piece / RM92+ per box) was mediocre as I prefer the original taste of lotus paste.

Tiramisu with Chocolate Dipped Espresso Beans (RM22+ per piece / RM88+ per box) was created for tiramisu lovers. The classic combination of chocolate and coffee was creatively incorporated into the mooncake paste and the baked skin enhances the flavors very well. Yum…

This is my first time savoring Shredded Coconut Paste with Sesame Pearls (RM20+ per piece / RM80+ per box). The aroma is lovely with the coconut and sesame fragrance but the texture is a bit coarse for me. Others didn’t seem to mind the texture; hence I am assuming I am being too picky! J

Five Nuts, Rum and Raisin (RM25+ per piece / RM98+ per box) is for nut lovers. Filled with variety of nuts, the baked mooncake has a slight savory flavor against a slight sweetness. This would certainly make my mom happy…

The five Snow Skin flavors are truly out-of-the-ordinary with its modern filings ranging from healthy to alcohol. Being an ardent fan of snow skin, the ones here are lovely with its creamy thin skin and melt-in-the-mouth texture.

The mini snow skin mooncakes are simply adorable at sight!

Holy moly… Durian fillings? Mini Snow Skin with Durian Custard (RM23+ per piece / RM92+ per box) is designed specifically for the king of fruit fans! Not only do the chef uses top quality durians, the flavors are strong and will hit your tastebud with great impact of the durian flesh. Rest assured, you can smell this mooncake a mile away once its cut open. My foodie gang vouched that this is one of the best mooncakes they have eaten this year!

The durian mooncake makes the lovely Yvonne glee with delight because she managed to snatch the last piece!

Mini Snow Skin Mooncakes with Bittersweet Chocolate and Whiskey (RM18+ per piece / RM72+ per box) is my favorite that night. Seriously, chocolate and whiskey is a killer combination! Deep, dark and chocolaty, these melt-in-your-mouth babies are to-die-for in my opinion. Satisfaction is pure bliss!!

Mini Snow Skin Mooncake with Mango Cheesecake (RM18+ per piece / RM72+ per box) is quite interesting as it makes me fill like eating a mango cheesecake. Love the modern twist to this mooncake… J

I do adore the Mini Snow Skin with Black Sesame Paste and Egg Yolk (RM18+ per piece / RM72+ per box)… simply because I love the aroma and taste black sesame. Coupled with egg yolk, this is a rich and creamy mooncake.

Health conscious fans will be glad to savor Mini Chinese Wolfberry Snow Skin with Red Date Paste (RM18+ per piece / RM72+ per box). Although I cannot really taste the wolfberry, the red date paste was superb. A lovely flavor to give to the elderly!

Tai Zi Heen’s gorgeous red mooncake packaging makes such an elegant impact with four individual mooncake boxes all encased in a round box. Love it for its eye-catching color!

The chef behind these gorgoeous mooncakes, Chef Chong LF. Chef Chong persisted on using only quality ingredients while injecting creativity into his mooncakes!

Tai Zi Heen’s mooncakes are available 1st August to 12th September at Prince Hotel & Residence Kuala Lumpur. A perfect gift for family and friends this Mid-Autumn Festival!

The Mill, Grand Millennium Kuala Lumpur: One Malaysia Feast Ramadhan Buffet!

In junction with our nation’s theme, The Mill, Grand Millennium Kuala Lumpur is featuring this year’s Ramadhan buffet as One Malaysia Feast!

My last Ramadhan buffet for the year folks! It was certainly an eye-opener for me as I had dined several this year and can attest to all that no buffet is similar. Every buffet is unique in its own way with scrumptious themes and plethora of sumptuous dishes!!

If you and your family or friends would like to experience cuisines from various parts of the world, then this is the buffet for you! Read my first dining experience here at The Mill. Happy to be a returning guest, I had high expectations from my previous visit… J

I will keep the words short but let the pictures do the talking. The buffet features various cuisine such as Malay, Indian, Chinese, Japanese, Western and even Mediterranean!

Malay Cuisine

This section features loads of gorgeous sambals like Belachan, Hijau, Cincaluk, Mangga, Budu, Asam Jawa and more. A small section of Kerabus, Fried Salted Fish, Lemang, and Serunding were presented in small wooden buckets. My only gripe is the arrangements are just too deep in to reach them. The quintessential whole Grilled Lamb is beautifully roasted served with mustard, mint sauce and warm mushroom sauce.

Mains featured Kelantan Grilled Chicken, Paru Paru Goreng Berlada, Fried Quail, Gulai Ikan Patin and more. There is a grilled seafood section with various Fishes, Grilled Lamb, Sausages, Grilled Squids and etc. I spied Bubur Lambuk with quite a few condiments to perk up the porridge. Satay in the form of chicken and beef were also present and the ones here are lean and chunky pieces with succulent flavors! Desserts comprised of local Kuihs, Kurma and local Fruits.

Japanese Cuisine

Loads of fresh Sashimi, Sushi and Makis are the star of the section. The Mill has always been very generous with the sashimi selection such as Salmon, Tuna, Butter Fish, Octopus, Mackerel, and more! Cooked station feastures hot and fresh Tempura Prawns, Tempura Vegetables, Chicken Katsu, Potato Croquettes, and more which rotates on a daily basis.

Western and Mediterranean Cuisine

Seafood on Ice has always been a favorite station in any buffet! Check out the fresh selections of exquisite crustaceans such as Oysters, Scallops, Mussels, Crab and Prawns. Caesar Salad with Smoked Trout, Smoked Salmon and Cold Cuts are also present. I m in love with the Pizza here! Thin and crispy with zesty tomato sauce and various toppings, the pizzas are popular and the chef had a busy time churning out these lovelies in the oven. Mains such as BBQ Lamb with Black Pepper Sauce, Chicken Rolls, Salmon in Cream Sauce, Roasted Baby Potatoes, Grilled Vegetables and more are featured on a rotation basis.

There is a wide variety of Cheese available for cheese lovers and desserts are also wide with specialties like Pecan Pie, Walnut Tart, Coconut Pie, Moist Chocolate Mousse, Cakes, Puddings and Ice Creams. (Psst, there is Durian Ice Cream!) Chocolate Fountain is a popular station here.

Indian Cuisine

Chef Markhan does a fabulous job in this section and the quality remains consistent after my last visit. Indian Fish Head Curry, Oxtail Curry, Briyani Rice, Kashmiri Rice, Jerra Pulao, Dhall Makani, Naans, Potato Curry, Chutneys and more were spotted that night. Thumbs up as I just love the Indian cuisine here!!

Chinese Cuisine

The Mill is generous with ingredients such as Steamed Cod Fish, Sweet and Sour Fish, Pepper and Salted Prawns, Superior Sauce Prawns, Vegetables, Fried Noodles and Fried Rice. There is also a Dim Sum stations featuring Steamed Dumplings, Glutinous Rice, Buns and Fried Dim Sums.

If you are craving for variety, The Mill is the place to be this holy month! Quality and quantity is the plus point here and with the current promotion deal, this buffet is simply hard to resist!!
