MIGF 2011 Festival Gala Launch: It’s Raining Chefs this October in Malaysia! (Part 2 – The Food)


In continuation from the MIGF 2011 Festival Gala Launch event, here is a super long post all about Food that glorious night!




Al Amar, Pavilion Kuala Lumpur


Gorgeous colors illuminating the four season theme for the modern and chic Lebanese restaurant were hypnotizing! Chef Michael Karam certainly impressed the guests with his four season menu and drinks. A luscious sight of textures, colors and flavors!






Bunga Emas & L’Heritage, The Royale Chulan KL


A huge display panel of the hotel’s restaurants and chefs, Chef Mohd Haironizam (Bunga Emas) and Chef Anna Suzana (L’Heritage) was definitely too hard to miss! Malay fine dining cusine and French cuisine graced the array of pretty and delicate food that night!







Chalet, Hotel Equatorial KL


Loved the display of Chalet with its modern art to represent the Swiss continental experience! Chef Hafizzul Hashim takes his fondue seriously while a gentleman playing an accordion entertained the guest with charming servers dressed in Swiss costumes.






Chynna & Iketeru, Hilton KL


A modern Cantonese cuisine with Chef Lam Hock Hin featuring his speciality of Double Boiled Snakehead Nourishing Tonic Soup with Fresh Milk was just so refine and warming.


Savor authentic Japanese cuisine with Chef Noboru Narumi who was all smile of the picture! His creative dishes expose an aura of Zen through the presentation and flavors.






Cuisine Gourmet by Nathalie, Jalan Puncak KL


Chef Nathalie Arbefeuille has been creating a visionary menu of modern French cuisine to the dining scene in KL. Self-taught and devoted, the chef pours her creativity into dishes like Egg with Summer Truffles and her infamous Macarons!






Dynasty & Sagano, Renaissance Kuala Lumpur Hotel


Chef Kok Chee Kin (Dynasty) and Chef Mohd Zamri Abdul Rahman (Sagano) displayed fine Cantonese and Japanese cuisine fit for the elite!






Flame, Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club


The backdrop of Flame proudly displays its European heritage as a Mediterranean grill from Chef Mohd Hisham Abu Bakar, whose canapés was such a vision to devour.






Imperial Rama, Highlands Hotel & The Olive, Maxim Genting


Impressive Thai & Chinese and Continental cuisine concocted by Chef Eric Lee (Imperial Rama) and Chef Daniel Sheen (The Olive) was truly savored by guests that night! Portabello Salad, Wagyu Beef and Sea Scallops were simply-to-die-for while desserts were mesmerizing!






Kofuku Japanese Restaurant, Seri Pacific Hotel KL


Chef Steven Tan’s Japanese cuisine showcases a tranquility of “Double Happiness” with Saffron Tea Pot Soup and Chilled Udon Noodles!






Lafite, Shangri-La KL


Helmed by Chef Georg Schröppel, Lafite represents European cuisine with an artist flair of luxury dishes such as Pan-Seared Scottish Diver Scallops and Butter-Poached Boston Lobster. This is one impressive place you don’t want to miss!






Lai Ching Yuen, Grand Millennium KL


Another fabulous Chinese restaurant (previously known as Zing) exudes nothing but the best in Chinese cuisine by Chef Leong Weng Heng and Chef Thye Yoon Hong! Rabbit Dumplings with Durian Custard and Scallop in Pie Tee Shells were raved by many that night. Fine and delicate Chinese cuisine and scrumptious Dim Sum are one of the best one can find in the market!






Lai Po Heen & Mandarin Grill, Mandarin Oriental KL


Award winning Chef Ricky Thien (Lai Po Heen) is the master chef behind the Cantonese cuisine restaurant creating master piece dishes like Dong Po Style Barbeque Scented Lamb Rib with Chinese Pear! Chef Reto Weber (Mandarin Grill) helms the contemporary modern grill cuisine with innovative dishes to whet one’s appetite!






Neo Tamarind, Jalan Sultan Ismail KL & Tamarind Springs, Taman TAR Ampang


Chef Thiti Thammanatr (Neo Tamarind) creates a fabulous fusion of Thai, French and Chinese in his signature theme of modern Thai delicacies in their menu while Chef Nopphadon Suyawong (Tamarind Springs) signature Indochinese cuisine is set to take one on the experience to his repertoire of Vietnamese, Cambodian and Lao dishes!







Nerovivo, Jalan Ceylon KL


A contemporary Italian restaurant featuring Chef Paolo Petris whose various international experience marks his collection of Italian dishes with refreshing Gazpacho, delicious Beef Carpaccio and Bruschetta that night!






Royal India, The Intermark KL


Chef Rakesh Prasad signature northern Indian cuisine will certainly spiced up one’s experience through the restaurant with Saffron Pulao, Pudhina Paratha, Royal Murgh Masala and Vegetable Jalfrezi.






Samplings on the Fourteen, Berjaya Times Square Hotel


Fairly new to the dining scene in KL but has already has a group of followers, Chef Valmurugan Subramaniam creates a magnificent menu of luxurious Seared Foie Gras, Tomato & Onion Tart partnered with US Scallops with Yellow Mushrooms and an impressive Roasted Australian Pistachio-crusted Baby Veal Rack that will guaranteed to knock your socks off!






Senja, The Saujana Hotel KL & The Restaurant, The Club Saujana Resort


A humble and ingenious, Chef Giovanni Ricci (Senja) creates a fine Italian cuisine displaying his passion for seafood boldly in Pan Seared Scallops, Beetroot Puree & Porcini Mushrooms and Prawns, Tomato, Chili & Olive Oil Bruschetta!


Austrian born Chef Alexander Waschl (The Restaurant), a perfectionist and truly innovative chef helms the modern European restaurant with such finesse and art in his signature Home Dried Watermelon Carpaccio Parmesan, Aged Balsamic & Extra Virgin Olive Oil and Veal Assiette. His Chocolates and Raspberries are wondrous to the desert palate!!






Tatsu, Intercontinental KL


Chef Yanagida Tetsuya is one serious but connoisseur Japanese chef to look out for. His unique ability to raise the level of Japanese cuisine led to his original creations of a fountain of savory and sweet dishes that night. Special notable combination of Foie Gras Steak in Cod Fish Teriyaki is one serious dish to fall in love with fabulously!






The Emperor, The Grand Dorsett Subang Hotel


Serving traditional Cantonese cuisine by Chef Michael Wong, his presentation certainly shows an artistic flair to his talent in addition to his dishes. Baked Scallop with Garlic Sauce in Vol-Au-Vent Pastry and Assorted Seafood with Salmon Caviar was heavenly!






The Pomelo, The Banjaran Hotsprings Retreat


The restaurant features healthy spa cuisine by Chef Shanmuganathan Songappen who believes in creating fresh and healthy dishes as part of his philosophy for enjoyment. Blue Fin Tuna with Orange was definitely refreshing and delightful.






West Lake Garden, Sunway Resort Hotel & Spa


Last but not least, Chef Chan Choo Kean, an award-winning chef together with Chef Wu Chee Keong, is the creative mastermind behind the traditional Chinese cuisine with a modern twist! Expect nothing but the best from his repertoire of Sze Chuan Beef with Foie Gras stuffed in Chinese Steam Bus and Organic Chicken Consommé and Baby Abalone with Chrysanthemum and Cordycep Broth that was superb that night.







Kronenbourg 1664 (Carlsberg) is the official beer of the event! Love color and costume of the pale lager.
