Well it certainly is… and what a storm it was! I had the honors of attending my first Malaysia International Gourmet Festival 2011 launch on September 29th, Thursday.

More than two thousand of the country’s “who’s who” gathered in the Grand Ballroom of Sunway Resort Hotel & Spa to celebrate the start of the region’s most anticipated fine dining event – The Malaysia International Gourmet Festival (MIGF).

The grandeur of the event was an amazing vision of plush tables and chairs, thousands of candles creating an aura of grandeur, gorgeous participating booths with a kaleidoscope of mouth-watering dishes and drinks, entertainment performances and an endless sea of guests!

The event was inaugurated by Dato’ Steve Day, MIGF Organizing Chairman on his vision and theme for The MIGF 2011.

Dato’ Sri Dr Ng Yen Yen, Minister of Toursim also presented a few welcome words for the event.

Minister of Tourism YB Dato’ Sri Dr Ng Yen Yen, Royal Patron Tunku Laxamana of Negeri Sembilan Tunku Naquiyuddin Ibni Tuanku Ja’afar, together with Dato’ Steve Day, cut through a massive 12-foot high chef’s hat, marking the official entry into the ballroom. Their presence were greeted by sounds of clanging pots and pans from a gang of chefs, backed by a full Latin band and Festival Master Chefs waiting to greet them on stage.

Here’s a sneak peek of what we can looked forward to in the whole month of October with the 28 participating restaurants this year! Stay tune in the next post for Food pictures (tons and tons of it!)… J

There was also a media conference with honorary and distinguished guest to address the event!

Phew…To think I actually covered all 28 booths that night! In addition to the magnificent plethora of cuisine, check out the Faces that night.
