A Delectable Steamy Dinner!
Talk about comfort food, Xin Cuisine Chinese Restaurant at Concorde Hotel Kuala Lumpur has just kicked off a weekly Steamboat Dinner available from Monday to Friday every week. We headed over to Xin Cuisine to check out what makes this steamboat so good one evening.
Xin Cuisine is always a favorite choice of mine when it comes to dining refine Chinese cuisine. Food is always consistently delicious and the chefs at Xin Cuisine takes pride in serving nouvelle Chinese cuisine using the freshest ingredients possible. So fresh that the chefs themselves goes out daily to shop for their own ingredients to ensure that quality is always top-notched.
After a long day at work, I was literally exhausted and all I wanted was food that could sooth my tummy that evening. As soon as I saw what was laid out for the Steamboat Dinner, I knew that my evening was going to end in comfort.
The Steamboat Dinner is priced at RM50nett per person (min. 2 persons) and is available from Monday to Friday in the evening during dinner time. A choice of 3 soups are available from Chicken Soup to Herbal Soup and Curry Gravy.
Normally I wouldn’t think to order Curry Gravy for steamboat but after a taste of Xin Cuisine’s Curry Gravy, I was utterly hooked. The Curry Gravy is not overly creamy and has the right balance of spices to make the gravy very addictive. The consistency of the thickness is just right and the flavours are well balanced with a touch of delicate balance of savory, sweet, spicy and umami notes. Beautifully aromatic, the ingredients served worked so well with the Curry Gravy, especially the egg noodles.
The Chicken Soup tasted beautifully robust with a gentle sweetness of chicken essence. The soup alone was already deliciously comforting and as one add in the ingredients slowly, the soup features different levels of tasty notes. There is also Herbal Soup for those who prefer some nourishing benefits.
For the price of the Steamboat Dinner, there is certainly plenty of ingredients that made up the steamboat set menu.
Sliced Chicken, Fish Ball & Dumplings
The Dumplings are exceptionally delicious! Made in house, the plump dumplings has a moreish and bouncy meat and prawn filling. Since Xin Cuisine is well-known for their dim sum, its not a surprise that their dumplings are so delicious!
Sliced Top Shell
Fish Fillet, Squid and Fresh Cuttlefish
Fried Beancurd Skin, served piping hot from the wok. This one tasted so good on its own that we had this as is a lot. Dunk these into the Curry Gravy for extra yumminess…
Seafood Tofu, Fresh Egg Noodles and Egg
The Fresh Egg Noodles went really well with the Curry Gravy and had a very good texture and flavour.
There was also Chinese Cabbage, Young Cabbage, Spinach, Lettuce, Mushroom and Tofu. Along with the steamboat, Xin Cuisine serves three sauces of Sambal Belachan, Spicy & Tangy Chili Sauce and a thick piquant dark Chili Sauce.
The Steamboat Dinner was really value-for-money, especially since it’s of hotel quality. The soups are excellent while the ingredients are fresh and healthy. I may had a long exhausted day at work but I certainly ended my day with an evening of delectable comfort feast of Xin Cuisine’s Steamboat Dinner!
