Lunching in Style at Urban!
City
folks looking for a quick business lunch should head on over to Urban at Hotel Istana Kuala Lumpur. Urban,
a modern eclectic restaurant with French influences is a favorite hotspot of
many gourmands. Helmed by Chef Sharusmizal and team, Urban represents his
creative playground for a list of his sumptuous dishes. Urban hasn’t changed
much since I last visited and its Aussie native bright orange interior remained
as vibrant as ever.
Urban
is now offering the Executive Set Lunch
Menu available from Mondays to Fridays, from 12.00 noon to 2.30pm to cater
to the business crowd. Diners can enjoy the 3-course Executive Set Lunch Menu
priced at RM50nett. Choose an appetizer, a main course and a dessert from the
various selections of each course.
There
are three choices of Appetizer and these comprises of salads, various light
versions to keep energy going but not heavy to drag one down.
Opt
for Caprese Salad, a rich mix of
sweet fresh smoked buffalo mozzarella paired with highland tomato wedges,
mesclun greens, basil, pesto, olive powder and a few more ingredients. It’s a
classic pairing of the Italian flag of red, green and white. The olive powder
proved to be a unique addition of flavours.
Caesar Salad is always a crowd pleaser. Romaine
lettuce with croutons, shaved parmesan cheese, micro greens and garlicky creamy
dressing makes a very tasty and simple salad.
If
you are one to go for a luxe salad, then opt for the Nicoise Salad, a classic French salad of tuna, potato, egg, tomato
and more. Urban’s version had seared tuna, boiled egg and potato, haricot bean,
tomato, onion, greens, caper berry and an anchovy dressing.
Diners
have a selection of 5 main courses to choose from and these ranges from French
to Italian to American.
Thread Fillet with Kenya Beans, Le Puy
Lentil, Crabmeat Beignet, Celeriac Puree and Chardonnay Orange Butter may have a mouthful of ingredients
but they all certainly work deliciously together. The crispy skin of the thread
fillet is delish and the flesh is firm and sweet. The crabmeat beignet is
divine and many would wish for more than one. The light fresh citrus and butter
sauce held the ingredients all together.
Another
dish worth ordering is the French
classic of Ballotine of Chicken & Truffle with Mushroom Puree, Asparagus,
Pommes Mouseline, Golden Raisin and Morel Jus. Chicken made lavish with
truffle, mushrooms, asparagus and morel jus, it’s definitely a winning
combination of earthy moreish flavours. The chicken is also beautifully tender
and moist.
For
those who prefer their carbs, the Spicy
Chili Prawn Spaghetti is simply the perfect pasta for lunch. Pasta cooked
al dente, large sweet prawns and spicy chili notes with cheese and herbs is a
plate of robust and fiery flavours.
There’s
a burger crave in everyone and so one can also opt for the Classic Beef Burger served with steak fries and spicy barbeque sauce.
A juicy beefy patty with melted Swiss cheese and the usual sidekicks is
completed with toasted sesame bun. The burger is a whopper in size so it’s
perfect for big appetites.
There is also a vegetarian option of Vegetable Lasagna. Enjoy oozing melted cheese sauce and tomato sauce on grilled vegetables for pure comfort.
The
trio selection of desserts offer diners a nice selections of sweets that are
not overly heavy for lunch time.
For
a light and refreshing finish, enjoy the Exotic
Fruits with Basil Sorbet.
Chocolate
lovers should take on the Urban
Chocolate Fudge with Home Made Toffee and Sesame Ice Cream. Decadently dark
and bittersweet with buttery toffee is given a twisted note of sesame ice
cream.
To
go the divine route, end the lunch with Crispy
Custard of Home Made Crème Brulee with Fresh Fruits. The crack of the
toffee on the crème brulee is music to anyone’s ears. The rich and sinful egg
cream is offset beautifully by the fresh fruits.
