Kings Green Hotel City Centre Melaka

Affordable Boutique Hotel in Malacca

We love our weekend getaways. It makes a nice change to get away from the city every once in a while, and this time, we opted for the UNESCO world heritage city of Malacca. Since its only about 2 hours plus away, a short weekend getaway makes it ideal and fun, especially for my little one.

This round, we stayed at a boutique concept hotel, Kings Green Hotel City Centre Melaka. Located conveniently in Malacca city centre, the hotel is set on a less crowded area but strategically near the Sentral bus station and is easily accessible to attraction areas, which include AEON Shopping Centre, historical sites and the famous Jonker Walk. It is also a 10-minute drive from Mahkota Parade and a 5-minute drive to River Cruise Melaka.

Upon arrival, the 4-star hotel looked nice with a clean and modern outlook. There’s plenty of parking space in front of the hotel, a plus point for the hotel. While it’s not overly fancy, there’s still a warm charm to the hotel the moment we walked into the lobby.

You get the usual welcome drink at the entrance…

The lobby is very spacious and the high ceiling is dressed with modern LED lightings, echoing a lovely inviting vibe to the hotel.

Open in October 2013, we notice that Kings Green Hotel is the First Green Building Index Certified Hotel in Malacca along with certification of Melaka Green Seal award as well as a premise 100% free from smoking under the Blue Ribbon Campaign. Some of their environmental actions include Green Car Park (for Hybrid Vehicle), Rain Water Harvesting, Energy & Water Saving, Recycling effort, Indoor Air Quality, Green Garden and No Smoking facility. Feels good to know that the hotel is doing their part for the environment. This also means that the hotel is perfect for young ones and elderly folks.

We checked into our Deluxe Room on the fourth floor of the hotel. Our room was beautifully bright and vibrant from the pretty pastel orange walls offset with plenty of whites and natural wood colors. The room also boasted of lots of top to floor glass panels to allow in lots of natural lights during the day, another cost-saving and environmental-friendly factor.

Deluxe room comes with a Queen bed and a Super Single bed, which is perfect for my family of 3. Special highlights of the room also includes balcony and bath tub, both perfect for us since we love to enjoy the city view and a good soak in the tub.

One gets the standard facilities such as hanging closet with iron & iron board, in-room safe box, mini fridge, complimentary bottled water, coffee & tea making facilities and even newspaper.

There is also a LCD TV with satellite and local TV services as well as good wireless internet access that is complimentary.

The bed was firm and comfortable with decent pillows, echoing a good night’s sleep to come. My little one squealed in delight at the cute lovebirds folded from towels on the bed. He giggles and commented that this is the bed for mummy and daddy as it is a lovebird bed… 😊 and of course look who he brought with him as his company… Mr.Bear!

As soon as we stepped out to the balcony, we were greeted with this beautiful sunny and blue sky view of the historical city.

The bathroom is very spacious that boasted of a modern bath tub, a shower space and toilet facilities. There’s the usual bathroom amenities as well as hairdryer, fluffy towels and even handmade soaps. Lots of natural lights are cleverly incorporated into the bathroom too through the frosted glass panel.

A very satisfying room overall for our stay indeed as the room is clean and well-kept, spacious and very comfortable!

We headed down to Hibiscus CafĂ© for a late lunch cum tea-time treats. Hibiscus CafĂ© is the hotel’s casual dining restaurant that serves all-day dining favorites from breakfast to lunch, tea and dinner with a menu filled with local and international dishes. The cafĂ© is also designed with colors of apple green to echo and easy happy vibe.

Hibiscus Café is currently have a Chicken Chop promotion daily that serves Grilled or Breaded Chicken Chop with a choice of house special Salted Egg Sauce or Black Pepper Sauce. The meal also comes with a complimentary Chilled Juice and is priced at RM22 nett.

Generous in portion and superb salted egg sauce…

Besides that, there is also a Tea Time ‘Sembang-Sembang’ treat of your choice of Cucur Udang, Cucur Ikan Bilis, Keropok Lekor, Goreng Pisang, French Fries and Fried Sweet Potatoes that comes with 1 hot drink priced between RM8 to RM12.

After a short rest, it’s swimming time! D always looks forward to swimming whenever we have our staycation. To him, it’s the best activity when on vacation. As usual, he is ever ready to jump into the pool…

Kings Green Hotel may not have the biggest swim pool we have seen but its nicely shaded and design well. The infinity pool overlooks the cityscape and comes in section of different height for enjoyment. Whether one is just soaking in the pool or doing some swim laps, the pool is decent. It can get a bit crowded at certain hours so best to go early or later in the evening.

There’s also a children’s pool for little ones and lounge chairs for relaxation.

As the sun sets, we had our dinner at Jia Restaurant at the hotel in the evening. Jia Restaurant is a Chinese cum Nyonya Restaurant with an elegant ambiance. Menu features mostly Chinese dishes as well as a list of Malaccan Nyonya dishes. Stay tune for the food in my next post…

After dinner, we took a stroll and visited the pool area again to catch glimpse of the gorgeous cityscape in Malacca. The pool looks gorgeous in the evening with all the dark rich colors of Mother Nature…

After the stroll, my little one hit the sack while the adults come out to play. We hit the Green Acres Lounge Bar for some cocktails and music with other friends that evening.

The Lounge Bar seems to be a hotspot with the locals as well as many come here for music and dancing in the evening. Set in a huge space, the bar takes centerpiece with its glowy neon lite bar as well as the various sitting areas that offer guests privacy and their own space for some relaxation.

We satisfy our thirst with some delicious Margarita and Strawberry Margarita that evening!

The next morning, we woke up well-rested from our evening of slumber land.

We enjoyed our breakfast at Hibiscus CafĂ© with a lovely list of local and Western breakfast treats. From Nasi Lemak to Chinese Teochew Porridge and Noodle Soup to Eggs of your choice, Sausages, Baked Beans, Cereals, Toast and more, our day started delicious well…

We took a quick stroll around the hotel and saw their Gym and Conference rooms before heading back to our room for a quick rest and a quick swim.

After pool time, we had lunch again at Jia Restaurant, this round with a Nyonya menu. Stay tune for the food post coming next…

Check out time… they say when you are having a good time, time flies and it sure was a short vacay but nevertheless a lovely one. We enjoyed the hotel as it has a comfortable vibe and the area of the hotel is pretty strategic but not as packed as other tourist spots. We will be back…

  2. Thanks for sharing the nice information about the hotel. However, I do like the swimming pool area very much since I'm a big fan of swimming pool. I recently publish an article about some pressure side pool cleaners review here.
