Celestial Dynasty Restaurant @ Section 19, PJ

Wedding Banquet Menu

The newly open Celestial Dynasty has a banquet menu worthy to check out for! Besides being able to accommodate 40 tables in the main dining room, there’s plenty of private rooms too for private functions.

The gold, cream and dark wood theme interior reflects a sense of elegance with minimalist. With a long hall that allows a grand entrance, Celestial Dynasty is great for a wedding march. There is also a stage at the end of the room to allow entertainment for functions.

We had the honors of a sneak peek at their banquet menu and found the dishes to be uniquely delicious. While more restaurant tends to go the classic route, Celestial Dynasty features creative renditions of classic. Our tasting menu of the evening was Summer Scent 天赐良缘幸福满宴 priced at RM1188 per table of 10 pax.

First up, a beautiful three-tiered presentation of Summer Platter, summarizing the classic four season platter of appetizers in banquet menu. The first top tier is Stir Fried Scallop with Tom Yum Sauce. Moreish with a lightly spicy heat and tang of aromatic lemongrass tom yum. Lots of textures too from the plump scallops to crunchy sweet peas, onions, bell peppers and mushrooms, the dish is very enjoyable.

The second tier, a Smoked Duck with Chilled Jelly Fish and Deep-Fried Hap Po Wan Chu. The smoky rich note of the duck goes pretty well with the crunchy jelly fish, an unusual pairing but it works well. The golden crispy bundle of Hap Po Wan Chu has bean curd sheet filled with seafood paste with dried oyster and salted egg yolk. Both dishes great to whet the appetite for more…

The last one is a delectable Deep Fried Bacon Roll with Honey Sauce. Bacon makes everything better and this one has an unctuous salty sweet flavour of yumminess.

The soup course features a nutritious Double-boiled Farm Chicken Soup with Pacific Clam and Shitake Mushroom. The broth has a clean and delicate chicken essence that is tummy warming.

When a perfect classic gets a twist, it can turn out either ways. Luckily, the Roasted Platter of Curry Suckling Pig and Roasted Duck won excellent brownie points from everyone. The addition of subtle curry spices elevated the aroma as well as the flavour of the crispy skin piglet. An excellent rendition from a timeless classic. The roasted duck is also succulent and well marinated with a lovely crisp lacquered skin and juicy meat.

For the fish course, the Steamed Pomfret and Radish with Superior Soy Sauce makes a good choice and possibly the best way to enjoy the freshest of the fish with minimal ingredients.

The Deep Fried Crispy Sea Prawns with Salted Egg is lusciously aromatic and gorgeously golden at sight. The prawns, well coated with that unctuous and yummy salted egg sand, is decadent and lip-smacking yum.

Braised Superior Seafood and Abalone with Brown Sauce shows off the premium treasures of the sea. The lavish abalones along with sea cucumber, dried scallops and mushrooms are nicely braised in a tasty abalone and oyster sauce. A sumptuous and lavish dish indeed!

There is also the obligatory carb dish at the end of the course meal. The Fried Glutinous Rice in Lotus Leaf is decent and has sufficient flavours to make it a very enjoyable last savory course.

Dessert is really good and features a cold sweet broth along with other sweets. The Chilled Aloe Vera with Mango and Sea Coconut is refreshing and fruity. It also goes really well with the Deep Fried Sesame Bun and Chilled Mochi. Though nothing out of the ordinary, the desserts were still very well-made and left a sweet and tasty after taste to end the dining experience.

TRACE Restaurant and Bar @ Element Kuala Lumpur

New Menu by Chef Man

A new journey of flavours has begun this September at TRACE Restaurant and Bar. With a gorgeous skyline view of the city stretch across the distance, dining at TRACE Restaurant and Bar at Element Kuala Lumpur is a delicious sensory dining experience not to be missed.

Located on 40 floors, TRACE is spaciously designed to incorporate an element of modern contemporary dining with comfort. The name TRACE speaks for itself; the objective is to create transparency around what is in the food and where it came from. Committed to serving fresh and local produce in support of our local farmers, TRACE offers bold local and international flavours with a twist in their menu.

Executive Chef Man and his culinary team takes on inspiration from Marriott International’s Go Local Concept and created his latest menu that offers more local dishes. With an open kitchen placed centrally around the main dining area, diners can catch whiffs of deliciousness as well as Chef Man’s culinary kitchen actions while dining at TRACE.

A Sangria to kick off the evening…

The Kerabu Mangga Isi Ketam (RM23) is a crowd pleaser. Simply irresistible, this delicious concoction of sweet crab meat chunks with spicy and sour mango kerabu salad is a match made for each other. Lots of flavourful oomph of savory, sweet, spicy and sourness whets the appetite for more to come.

The Live Well Salad (RM27) offers a healthy and tasty salad with a light dressing. Lots of fruity notes from the beetroot, orange segments, berries and crisp salad greens that makes this salad so fresh and delightful to enjoy.

For a single light meal, the Wrap & Roll Sharwarma (RM32) is your best bet. Thin sliced roasted chicken breast with light salad greens, cucumber and onion served with sides of Tzatziki sauce and special sauce along with thick cut fries is great for any time of the day.

The classic Malaysian oxtail soup (RM38) is beautifully cooked and presented. Served with crispy toast, lime and kicap sauce, these condiments are perfect with the rich and robust spiced up soup filled with tender chunks of oxtail. Finished with fresh coriander and fried shallots for that aroma, the soup is hearty and tummy warming.

TRACE's signature pizza (RM40) is slathered with local flavours. Thin and crispy crust, blanket with organic tomato sauce before being topped with spicy chicken, chicken floss, thinly sliced onions, cheese and lime wedges, the pizza is deliciously tasty.

If there is one dish to call it Chef Man’s signature, it would have to be Rempah Kuzi Kambing (RM58). A recipe from his Great Grandmother with different spices from India, Arab and Malaysia, the braised lamb shank is served with ghee rice and crispy pappadum. The lamb flavours are decadently rich with bold spices cooked into thick tomatoey sauce finished with cashew nuts. Its fork-tender and has soaked up all the deliciousness of the sauce as well as the wonderful aroma. Certainly, a dish not to be miss!

Crispy Yee Mee noodles drenched in silky egg laced gravy, crowned with large prawns with chicken, fishcake and greens, it’s a jazzed up comfort dish that is much enjoyed by many daily. The flavours of Egg Noodles "Yee Mee Kung Fu" (RM32) are well-balanced, with hints of savory sweetness pairing so well with the egg noodles and sweet fresh prawns.

Besides the above, there’s also Mee curry laksa (RM32), Mee mamak (RM32) and Nasi Goreng Kampung (RM32). The Nasi Goreng Kampung is a lovely sight. Fried rice ala kampung style is accompanied by satay skewer, little bundles of pandan chicken, fried egg, crunchy ikan keropok and fruit chutney sambal. A little mini buffet of flavours to jazz up the fried rice.

Other international dishes to try includes Lamb Chop with potato au gratin (RM72 for 350g), Salmon fillet with saffron cream sauce (RM69 for 200g), Australian tenderloin with truffle mash and balsamic black pepper sauce (RM120 for 200g), Corn-fed chicken with spinach a la creme (RM51) and more. Our tasting platter of all four dishes is impeccably cooked and presented well. The lamb was superb and succulent and so was the tenderloin. The chicken roulade is moist and served on creamed soft spinach while the pretty pastel saffron creamy sauce complimented the salmon deliciously.

Desserts are not to be missed as there are quite a few choices of familiar classic desserts such as Cheese Cake (RM30), Pandan Tiramisu (RM28), Bread pudding (RM28) or Dark Chocolate Volcano Lava Cake (RM36). Whichever dessert one chooses, it will surely leave a lasting sweet note while dining at TRACE!

Celestial Court New Menu @ Sheraton Imperial Kuala Lumpur Hotel

A New Dining Experience with Exquisite New Dim Sum & Chinese Menu

A new Celestial Court commands a new dining experience with a Chinese feast fit for royalty. Celestial Court has been serving Cantonese cuisine at Sheraton Imperial Kuala Lumpur Hotel since it first opened in 1996. The award-winning Chinese restaurant has recently undergone a face lift in the month of June 2018.

An opulent interior of plush cream, gold and dark wood sets the mood of elegance and fine pleasures of a sensory dining experience. The main dining area, graced with crystal chandeliers, is beautifully spacious and set with comfort dining in mind. Private rooms are also available, decorated with the same theme of colours and grandeur.

Helming the refreshed Celestial Court are Cantonese Chef Ho Boon and Dim Sum Chef Ken Liew together with the culinary team that is responsible for the scrumptious creations of Celestial Court’s new menu. With the many culinary experiences from both chefs, diners can expect an exquisite list of Chinese dishes as well as delectable dim sums of imperial standards.

Dim sum has always been a constant favorite with foodies. Celestial Court’s new dim sum menu is simply gorgeous at sight, offering plenty of classic and creative choices for a delightful dim sum experience.

Tuck into Grilled Stuffed Honey Glazed Dried Chicken Meat with Seafood Mousse served with “Man Tou”. A master piece of fluffy steamed mantao sandwiched with a savory and sweet piece of chicken bakwa filled with bouncy seafood mousse, topped with chicken floss and sweet chili sauce is divine at sight and taste. The texture is unique and delicious, making every bite a pleasure. Unusual but a definite stunner in creativity and taste…

The Signature Prawn and Chicken Siew Mai is well-made with the essential plump and juicy meat dumpling textures. Seasoned well, the siew mai is finished with ebiko and asparagus.

Another new dim sum to look out for is the Seafood and Black Garlic Dumpling Topped with Savory Unagi. The balanced of unagi and seafood mousse with hints of subtle sweetness of black garlic is sublime.

The Beet Root Crystal Vegetarian Morel Mushroom Dumpling with Truffle Oil Essence is lusciously aromatic. Heady with generous truffle aroma and essence, the vegetarian dim sum has a chewy tint of pretty fuchsia from beetroot. It is filled with chopped mushrooms and other vegetables that contribute to the textural part of the dumpling as well as a delicate fresh taste.

Besides the steamed dim sum, diners can also enjoy the Prawn Paste Ball with Bitter Gourd in Salted Egg Yolk and Pumpkin Sauce. Large king prawn balls lusciously coated with the much-beloved salted egg yolk is a sure crowd pleaser. The skillful chef even cleverly incorporates bitter gourd and pumpkin into the sauce without much of a fuss since its deliciously subtle.

The Golden Fried Smoked Salmon Kataifi Roll with Seafood Mousse and Avocado served with Mix Fruit Salad is another creative twist to the dim sum menu. Not often used in Chinese cuisine, kataifi is middle eastern shredded phyllo pastry. The roll has a delicious seafood filling that is jazzed up with a creamy sauce and fresh sweet fruits as well as generous dollops of ebiko.

There are plenty of dim sum on the menu to try such as Imperial Sea Treasure Dumpling with Abalone, Sun Dried Scallop in Superior Chicken Consommé, Cabbage and Beancurd Sheet Roll with Sea Cucumber in Conpoy Sauce, Poached Szechuan Crab Meat Dumpling with Spicy Chili Soy Dip, Oat Coated Prawn and Banana Roll served with Wasabi Mayo and more.

Moving on to the Chinese a la carte menu, the Signature Hong Kong Style Roasted Duck with Five Spice makes a guaranteed dish to impressive at sight. A signature of Celestial Court, the gorgeous duck has such a rich and glistening lacquered on the skin. The crisp skin is wondrously addictive while the meat is deliciously succulent, so much so that each bite into the piece of duck yields much satisfaction. A must order as the duck is so good on its own that no sauces or condiments are required!

The Deep Fried Grouper Fillet with Lime Chili Dressing has thick pieces of grouper fillet, thinly battered and fried. Dressed with a piquant citrusy lime and chili dressing, it is also finished with textural components of thinly sliced raw onions, lime and coriander.

The vegetarian option of Braised Bamboo Pith with Mushroom and Asparagus is a dish that is easy to enjoy. Chockful of sweetness from crisp asparagus, earthy soft mushrooms and tender bamboo pith with nutritious goji berries, the dish has one savoring the natural sweetness that is good for us.

Finish your meal with a fruity sweet note of Cream of Mango with Vanilla Ice Cream Pomelo, Pearl Sago & Almond Flakes!
