An Italian Feast with Bottega!
I
love parties. As much as I enjoy dining out, I also love having parties at
home. Now don’t let the ‘party’ word stress you out. Parties doesn’t mean you
have to slave over the cooking stove for hours and days. You just need to have
a plan and get organized.
Here’s
where Bottega Mediterranea comes in.
Located in Jalan Ceylon, Bottega
Mediterranea has been supplying foodies with lots of gourmet delicatessen
food since 2011. They are the go-to gourmet food specialist if you love cold
cuts and cured meat, cheeses and other imported European products here in the
city. I have met owner, a passionate culinary maestro himself, Riccardo Ferrarotti previously in his
restaurant and the food served is impeccable.
While
one can opt to go over to their shop, most are still unaware that Bottega actually has a home delivery
services within Klang Valley for a minimum order of RM100 and above. So when I
thought I would have a small get together, I decided to throw an Italian party
with some delicious and simple dishes that I could throw together with minimal
effort.
Bottega has it all when it comes to European
gourmet food. Their home delivery service was efficient as my box arrived as
per their confirmed delivery time. All items were nicely packed, with cured,
smoked meat and cheeses all nicely packed with coolers to ensure that
everything was kept at the right temperature.
A
little of everything goes a long way… 100gm of various cheese will feed plenty!
Bottega carries premium quality
cheeses imported from all over Europe. All these are nicely vacuum-packed to
seal in the aroma and taste. In this list includes Parmigiano- Reggiano,
Pecorino Romano, Asiago, Fontina, Gorgonzola (yes, I do love my stinky cheeses
too!) and Fresh Burrata Mozzarella.

Mortadella, Beef Bresaola and Salame. These are just a small fraction of
choices available. Head on over to their shop to check out the full list of

And
since I am going Italian, an Italian wine makes sense right? While the adults

Italian sodas are refreshing and great thirst-quenchers for little ones as well
as us adults too.

Here’s
what I did with all my goodies! Put together this Italian feast with minimum efforts, all you need is just some extra
fresh ingredients like fruits and vegetables to jazz an unforgettable feast…
not only was this party so easy, it looks really impressive with some creative
presentation (and like you have been slaving over the stove for hours… wink!).
My
Italian Charcuterie Platter and Cheese Platter with marinated Artichokes with Truffle, Pickled Olives,
Fig Jam, Olive Tapanade and more…
Bought
juicy ripe melon, grapes, tomatoes on vine, strawberries and fresh herbs.
Roasted my own red peppers over the stove till the skin blisters and put them
in a bag to steam, peel off the skin and season the red peppers with salt,
pepper and olive oil. You can also buy these red peppers from Bottega.
The
Parma Ham aged 18 months was simply
divine! Salty parma ham wrapped with sweet ripe melon is such a simple but
heavenly pairing …
The
Beef Bresaola was salty and beefy
all packed in a thin slice of meat!
Salame, Porchetta and Mortadella was lean and yet tasty. I saved the Smoked Pancetta for
pasta for another time…
Made
a simple Beetroot Hummus, just
because I happen to have beetroot in my fridge. A can of chickpeas (drained), 3
marinated beetroot, sesame paste or Tahini, 2 cloves garlic, extra virgin olive
oil, lemon juice and salt to season. Process them all together, taste and
seasoned again if needed. Bought a loaf of crusty Pide bread and sliced them up
to be savored with cheeses and meat. Added some pan-seared sausages.
Cheese Platter served with Grissini and Crocchini Mini
Breadsticks. Sliced fresh and creamy Burrata
mozzarella with juicy sweet tomatoes was my favorite, followed by the Asiago and Gorgonzola.
Whipped
up simple pasta Penne by boiling pasta and adding the Biffi Pesto Garlic Free and finished with generous sprinkling of Parmigiano- Reggiano and fresh basil.
With dried pastas, cheese and oils in your store cupboard, one also whipped an
easy Aglio Olio pasta with the Squid Ink Pasta or a Truffle Oil Fusiletti pasta
with lots of Pecorino Romano cheese. Although I actually planned to make the
other pastas, we were too full with all the scrumptious food and so I decided
to save them for later.
Coupled
with the Italian Zabu Nero D’avola
red wine, it was indeed a night of merriment and lots of laughter. Despite me
being the host, I really got to enjoy the evening with my foodies simply
because everything can be prepared in advance and I left the rest to Bottega Mediterranea!
