Kites Restaurant, Holiday Inn Kuala Lumpur Glenmarie: Ramadhan Celebration

Celebrate the holy month of Ramadhan this year with your friends and family at Kites Restaurant at Holiday Inn Kuala Lumpur Glenmarie. Kites is offering a delicious spread of delectable cuisines for breaking fast starting from 1st of August till 29th of August.

This Buka Puasa, there are more than 120 local and international dishes being featured in the buffet dinner. Indulge in delightful traditional Malay dishes coupled with a range of local favorites specially prepared by their team of chefs.

Chef HJ Norshiyam bin Mustapha is one of the main chefs responsible for the glorious spread at Kites!

A nice varieties of Ulams to whet the appetites with the house sambals like Sambal Belachan, Sambal Tempoyak, Sambal Ijo, Sambal Chili Kicap Manis and etc.

A lovely Sambal Cencaluk!

What I love about Ramadhan buffets are the grilled stations and the one featured here is Ikan Bakar Nusantara which has various fishes and chicken grilled and served with a powerful Air Asam and Sambal Kicap! Drool…

Tantalizing Goreng Ikan Masin or Fried Crispy Salted Fish which goes so well with rice… mm good!

Depending on the day, there is Tandoori fish or meat served at Kites.

Ayam Bugis Panggang is marinated with salam leaves, tamarind and belachan. This had a good smoky flavor and goes well with rice.

Ikan Keli Salai Berlada was fried catfish coated in a spicy chili and pepper sauce. Beware, this one is addictive!

Telur Itik Masak Lemak is duck eggs poaced in a creamy coconut sauce. The version here is not bad as it has a nice balance of creaminess against the rich duck eggs.

Kari Ikan Kepala or Fish Head Curry was redolent of spices.

I like the Ayam Percik which features the grilled chicken cooked in a luscious peanut sauce.

There was also Ayam Masak Kicap or Chicken in Dark Soy Sauce which offers a slightly sweet flavor to the poultry.

Mussel Halia is loaded with lots of mussels cooked in a ginger sauce.

A must-have in my repertoire of Ramadhan buffets is Serunding. The beef one I tried here was delicious.

Where there is Serunding, there is Ketupat Palas! Firm glutinous rice wrapped ketupat style went well with the Serunding and curries.

A simple Briyani Rice to go with the wide spread of dishes offered at the restaurant.

For desserts, local assorted Kuih Muihs are featured to round up the lovely spread above.

If local desserts do not tickle your fancy, check out the international spread of cakes, puddings, crepes, ice kacang, ice creams and more!

The above is just a small preview of what Kites has to offer. Menu changes daily with different spreads of local delights, appetizers and desserts. There is even a whole grilled lamb!

Featuring a cross selection of regional favorites from appetizers, condiments, main dishes to desserts and beverages. Those wanting more than a local spread can opt for the international buffet items or the 14 dedicated stalls displaying a wide spread from satay, mee goreng, murtabak to lok lok and teh tarik with rojak!

This year, Kites Restaurant will be maintaining its famous dishes from previous years, while converting its poolside and Gazebo area into a complete traditional Ramadhan feast! To compliment the atmosphere, a live ‘Ghazal Performance’ will be featured to keep the guest entertained as they break their fast. So sit back and enjoy the splendid cultural performances as you enjoy the traditional Malay cuisine reminiscing the good old days of time honored traditions.
