Indulge, TGV Cinemas 1 Utama: Time to Indulge, The First Luxury Cinema with Its Own Feast!

Indulge your Sight and Taste!

Cinematic experience has just gone to the next level! Talk about going all the way, TGV Cinemas at One Utama has just launched Indulge, a unique cinema concept that allows everyone to experience cinema indulgence like no other.

Walking into the exclusive lounge of Indulge certainly makes one feel classy and elegant. Indulge has its own private ticketing counter, lounge and dining area and also two exclusive cinema halls which is fitted with reclining chairs and personalised call-waiter-service that can accommodate 32 and 40 pax respectively. One can simply enjoy a luxurious experience in the premium seat cinema and dine in the Indulge restaurant or do both at the same time.

Indulge is beautifully decorated in modern contemporary design with touches of jazz. The restaurant cum lounge is set in rich purple and silver façade with soft neon glows of light to enhance the colors. The walls are covered in rich brocade design while the flooring shows off partial carpet and wood. The architectural ceiling is represented in a curvy spacey design with some lamps hanging over the tables. Furniture is chosen with minimal clean design to compliment the overall modern feel.

The restaurant has a bar set in full neon glow at the back end of the space. A long alley at another side lead guests to the private luxurious Indulge cinemas. If the movie time is not up yet, guests can simply hang out on the sofa spread near the alley or at the bar with some drinks. I even spied a popcorn cart in the alley for guests.

We were invited to a sneak preview of the Indulge experience and it started with dining at the Indulge restaurant. Now one should know that one do not need to purchase Indulge cinema tickets to dine at the Indulge restaurant. You can simply choose to dine at the Indulge restaurant at any time the restaurant is open. Of course the best way to complete the Indulge experience would be to finish the experience in the Indulge cinema.

Indulge restaurant serves up a full fledge menu of western delights with very affordable prices. The menu consists of soup and salad, pizzas to pastas and mains, dessert and plenty of beverages. I was really surprised at the how affordable the prices are considering the quality of the dishes served.

We had a delicious refreshing pink Mojito Mocktail to kick off the evening. I lost counts of how many I had as it was fruity and refreshing!

First up, the starter sections had us savoring Smoked Duck Salad, Pumpkin Salad, Stuffed Potato Skins and Lamb Koftas.

The Smoked Duck Salad is delightful with its slices of smoky duck breast served with mesclun greens, capsicum, kiwi slices and a tangy balsamic dressing. The rich meaty duck is beautifully lighten up by the kiwi and sweet syrupy balsamic dressing. It’s a very enjoyable salad. The Pumpkin Salad was pretty much a simple salad of honey roasted pumpkin served with rocket leaves, tomatoes and capsicums with the same balsamic dressing. This one is suitable for vegetarian and has a lovely sweetness and earthy flavours from the ingredients.

Our entrée of Stuffed Potato Skins and Lamb Koftas make decent appetizers. Half shells of crisp potato skins are stuffed with a filling of turkey bacon and mozzarella cheese before it’s baked to combine everything together. The little balls of Lamb Koftas are juicy and flavorful. It’s served with a side of salad and a fruit salsa that added a sweet touch to the meatballs. Imagine savoring these while catching a movie, you might need more than one order!

There were four main courses showcased that evening. We had Grilled Salmon, Grilled Lamb Rack, Grilled Ribeye and Cajun Chicken. Honestly I really enjoyed all four mains. Each one is cooked perfectly and is well flavored.

The Grilled Salmon was cooked to medium doneness, something I always stressed on for enjoying salmon. The flesh flakes beautifully and is moist. Served with seasonal vegetables and a lemon butter sauce, the dish won my vote for its cooking execution and light lemony flavours.

Grilled Lamb Rack showcase three French cut lamb racks nicely grilled. The lamb is tender and juicy with bits of flavorful fats. We also ask for medium and these turn out as it should with a medium pinkness. The lamb racks are served with seasonal vegetables as well and a savory aromatic rosemary sauce.

I happen to really like the Cajun Chicken as it is very well marinated and seasoned before its grilled. Using thigh, the chicken fillet is tender and very flavorful. Enjoy the chicken with a rich brown sauce and crispy potato wedges with a side of greens.

I didn’t taste the Grilled Ribeye but the person having it was pretty happy. She mentioned that the ribeye is tender with a beautiful flavour. The ribeye has a black pepper sauce as its partner together with seasonal vegetables.

Desserts was Panna Cotta and Nutty Tortilla Banana. Now I took the photos in the Indulge restaurant but I actually savored the dessert in the Indulge cinema itself while catching a movie.  The Panna Cotta is executed beautifully. The cooked cream is nicely sweetened and set with a wobbly texture. Served with a berry coulis and some fruits, it’s a lovely elegant dessert to enjoy in the cinema itself. The Nutty Tortilla Banana was decent with tortilla filled with peanut butter, cornflakes and fresh sliced banana. I would have love an ice cream to be paired with the tortilla for extra richness.

We head into the Indugle cinema after our main courses and was truly impress with what we saw. The Indulge cinema is beautifully spaced with large recliner sofas. Each sofa has a pastel lilac comforter blanket tied up with a ribbon. There are small tables next to each sofa with a call button for assistance.

Indulge cinema is made for those who enjoy the finer things in life. The recliner sofas allow us to stretch comfortably in the seat and each seat has a good view of the screen. As the cinema is very cold, the comforter is perfect for warmness. If one is dining in the cinema, a wait staff will fix a serving base to the sofa that allows one to indulge in the menu of the restaurant.

This is truly an indulgence! The experience is so comfortable that some of us did not want to leave the cinema after the movie. The only issue I have is that one may actually doze off somewhere in between the movie…

Indulge is perfect not just for movies only or dining but for private and corporate functions with catering provided regardless with or without a movie screening. One can even host birthday parties or any celebrations with a movie screening and a lovely meal.

With this experience, I am certainly going to have a hard time watching movie in the regular cinema without thinking of Indulge…

Indulge is opened from 11am with tickets priced at RM45 (meals not included).

For more information about Indulge and to book tickets, please log on to www.tgv.com.my or via TGV Cinemas’ Movie Buddy app which is available on the Apple App and Google Play store.

Burger King Rolls Out Transformers Blockbuster Deals!

It’s Out… TRANSFORMERS: AGE OF EXTINCTION is now showing worldwide!

And that’s not all… Burger King Malaysia’s latest Blockbuster Deals inspired by the movie of Transformers: Age of Extinction is also available at all Burger King Malaysia outlets. The new Double Take burgers will have fans literally doing a double take as the one-of-a-kind burger comes with both chicken and beef patties – in one burger!

A recent media invite, media and bloggers were treated to the first preview of both Burger King’s Double Take Blockbuster Deals and Transformers: Age of Extinction IMAX 3D movie at TGV. Right before the movie, we savored the three burgers together with an Apple Bolt and fries.

Burger King’s Blockbuster Deals come with a choice of Single or Double patty burgers in chicken or beef, slathered in luscious cheese sauce, fresh lettuce, mayonnaise and new golden potato crunch. Savor the scrumptious burgers with an Apple Bolt, a refreshing fizzy apple flavored drink tinged with a hue of blue.

I had the Double Beef Burger and enjoyed it. The burger was made special with two layers of cheese sauce, making it thoroughly creamy and cheese plus the crunchy golden potato crunch gave the burger a great added texture. The Apple Bolt was decent with its sparkling soda with a hint of apple fizz.

The Burger King’s Blockbuster Deals rolls out this June for a limited time and a medium sized meal starts from RM10.95 and comes with a choice of chicken or beef burger, fries and an Apple Bolt. The Crunchy Jumbo Frank is available ala carte for RM4.95 only.

Burger King’s new menu roll-out is the company’s strategy to keep customers engaged and interested while enticing a whole new segment of movie-buffs. “Transformers is such a massive brand and it’s thrilling to be part of such a huge global phenomenon. With this tie-in, we wanted to go beyond the ordinary and challenge the conventional way of enjoying burgers. Double Take is perhaps the first of its kind that features both chicken and beef patties in one epic burger,” said Keith Loh, Director of Marketing, Burger King Malaysia and Singapore.

It’s a movie not to be missed! Opens in cinema nationwide in Malaysia on 26 June, there’s plenty of surprises to keep everyone glued to the screen. New Autobots and Decepticons with the debut of Dinobots are gorgeous to watch while hunky Mark Wahlberg takes the leading role in this fourth installment of the Transformers live-action series. Transformers: Age of Extinction is directed by Michael Bay with the legendary Steven Spielberg as the Executive Producer.

I won’t spill too much but this round, its ruthless businessman and scientists makes their attempt to outdo the Autobots and Decepticons by creating their own Transformers. The whole movie has plenty of action scenes, extreme plot twists and injections of historical replications of dinosaurs. The epic adventure and battle between good and evil, freedom and enslavement will ensue. Catch Transformers: Age of Extinction in 3D, IMAX 3D and DOLBY ATMOS.

Roll out and grab a Transformers Blockbuster Deal at the nearest Burger King outlet before you hit the movie theater to catch Transformers: Age of Extinction!

The Gastro Project, Section 17 PJ: Dining with The Stars!

Friends, Food, Film & Cocktails… in no particular order please!

I am pleased, very pleased. An ardent movie buff, it would please me if I can combine my love for food and movie with great friends or family. Of course a few cocktails thrown in would only make this even better. That said, one should head over to The Gastro Project like I did. Based on the concepts of British gastro pubs, this exciting neighborhood restaurant cum movie theatre offers a great experience to diners, drinkers and movie buffs!

Founded by Dr. Roshni Menon, The Gastro Project (TGP) echoes Hollywood chic as soon as one enters. Classic black and white checkered floor contrast boldly with off white and burgundy walls while dark furniture rules the space. Posters of Hollywood stars such as Jack Nicholson, Jean Reno, Brad Pitt, Johnny Depp, Julia Roberts, Angelina Jolie and more reminds  you what this restaurant is all about. Choose to seat comfortably at the banquette or simply hang out at the bar. The whole ambience is warm and inviting.

Head up to the first floor level and one is greeted to the open theater armed with its own bar. Movies are projected on a wall screen as one lounge on comfy sofas. Needless to say, the best part of this movie is the cocktails to go with it. And let me tell you, there plenty of giggle juices to keep everyone happy…

As this was our media preview event, we were treated to the house signature cocktails concocted by operations manager, Jason Koven. For a start, I went straight for the Bubble Yum… and boy oh boy, I loved it! Bursting with strawberries, sparkling wine and elderflower syrup, I had a few of these refreshing cocktail in champagne flute. Other signatures include The AC Martini, Ginger Swizzle, Apple Grey Tea and more. Wines, beers and liquors are also available.

To make sure we had something to nibble with our cocktails, there were several canapés going around. Little squares of Mushroom Tarts with a polenta base, spoonful of Orrechiette with Lamb Sausages & Meatball, pieces of squares of pizza named The Indian and The TGP Pizza is like no ordinary canapés. These little bites pack quite a punch in flavors.

My top choice is the pizza… with The Indian having spicy Chicken Perratal with cucumber raita and Indian cheese and The TGP Pizza smothered in green garlic pesto with bits of squid and prawns. Both are superb in flavors and the spicy level of both pizzas rocked my world. The thin crust holds the ingredients well and the flavors are definitely bold. These fusion pizzas are simply a must-have at TGP.

After our canapés and cocktail session, we head down for dinner.  The menu for the night showcases TGP’s signature dishes served in tasting portions. Each course was also paired with a series of wines.

Japanese Style Salad served with Grant Burge Benchmark Chardonnay 2012

It is really a wonderful and light starter. Lots of greens at sight but there is a delicate level of sesame dressing that compliments the greens, avocado, edamame, pomegranate seeds and pine nuts. It is not a creamy dressing but rather lovely nutty and toasty sesame that works great with the salad.

Paired with a lovely South Australian Chardonnay, the plush and peachy white goes well with the light salad.

King Prawn in Buttercream Sauce with Mantau Buns with Champagne Jacquart Brut Mosaique

Even before I savored this dish, I was told how awesome this is and true enough, it lives up to all the ravings. A huge king prawn is nestled in a pool of luscious buttercream sauce with a side serving of deep fried Mantao bun. My only gripe about this dish is the oily bun but all is forgiven when I tasted the luscious and spicy buttercream sauce. The thick rich cream is balanced out with a great kick of spicy heat and I loved every spoonful of it. Regardless of what others think, I made sure to lap up every bit of the awesome sauce. It’s an indulgence worthy of every calorie it packs!

I was surprised that our rich dish was paired with champagne of Brut Mosaique. It does work though as the bubbly provided a delicate and freshness to the heavy cream dish. Kudos to whoever decided on this pair as the unexpected pairing works beautifully on my palate.

Trio of Main with Château Darzac Bordeaux Superieur – Cuvée Reserve

As mentioned this was our tasting portion of TGP’s mains. Scrolling down, we were also presented the actual serving portion for photo session.

Served with bold red Bordeaux by Château Darzac, the richness of the berries in the red compliments the strong flavored main dishes well.

Crabmeat Aglio Olio

I happen to like Aglio Olio for its simplicity. This one is shaken up with more spicy heat and hand-picked crabmeat. It has good doses of garlic and spiciness and pasta is cooked well. I wouldn’t mind ordering this again but I hope to have more crabmeat in the pasta.

Australian Black Angus

The Black Angus was cooked to perfection in our tasting portion. It really goes to show that quality beef is crucial to a great steak. Mine was cooked medium with a nice tender texture and flavors of the beef were spot on. One has plenty of choices when it comes to sauces and sides. When one orders the beef, the sauces and sides are additional orders so that it is personalized to one’s liking. Go ahead and beef up your steak…

Slow Cooked Lamb with Couscous

The braised lamb melts-in-the-mouth like buttery silk. It has paid off from the long hours of gentle cooking, rendering a good note of spices in harmony. It’s not spicy but rather savory and a little sweet from the apricots. Served with fluffy couscous, the dish evokes hearty flavors.

Trio of Dessert with Casetta Moscato D’Asti

We ended the affair with a trio of desserts named Classic, Decadent and Satisfying. Classic is English Strawberry Trifle which is decent but nothing to shout about. Decadent is Chocolate Cake Balls with rum cocoa sauce. This one is what a dessert should be, sinful and sexy. Dark and rich, the rum and cocoa made a great impact of chocolate sensation. Satisfying shows off Cardamon Pannacotta with a caramel sauce. I like the twist of cardamom in the cooked cream, its subtle enough but you know it’s there and the pannacotta is silky and wobbly as it should be.

Our Moscato D’Asti has a gorgeous yellow hue with a fresh and sweet palate.

What they offer at The Gastro Project is pretty new to our country but that’s what makes it so cool and extraordinary. The fusion food, drinks and movies is obviously a great combination for a lovely evening out with loved ones or friends. The modern fusion food works for me as the flavors are bold and the creations work beautifully. If you dine at TGP, you get to enjoy the movie with no charge. There are movie schedules on daily basis else you can even bring your own. The Gastro Project is also perfect for private events and functions. The concept from Dr. Menon and his dedicated team is a bold and brilliant step, taking dining and entertainment to another level in our country.

Taking my word here is not enough, you simply need to go and experience this for yourselves!
